The History of CSN
The Catholic Singles Network (CSN) was started in 1991 by Scott Reneau, the social chairman of the 30-Something Group at American Martyrs Catholic Church in Manhattan Beach. He heard his Catholic friends, time and time again, lament that it is difficult to meet Catholic Singles. Other Christian Denominations have done a more effective job in reaching out to singles. So he started CSN with the purpose of introducing single Catholic Men and Women from local parishes to each other, based on their common faith and their similar interests in music, sports, dining, hiking, dancing and the arts.

In his 12 years as director, more than 4000 Catholics have joined CSN as a way to meet quality friends who share their faith.

As of 2003, Scott wanted to pursue other interests so he turned over the operations and ownership to Paul and Marian Tamayo.

Paul served for three years as the one of the core team leaders for Faith In Action Together (F.I.A.T), a young adult ministry program at St. Joseph''s Catholic community in Fremont, CA. He has coordinated a number of social events inviting young adult groups throughout the Bay Area and Los Angeles.

Marian Tamayo was instrumental in starting and building a young adult faith community at St. Eugene''s in Santa Rosa, CA. She served on the leadership team and led a few young adult retreats.

CSN is still a valuable service for single Catholics. With its monthly introduction services, they will continue to follow the same "Friendship-First" philosophy that Scott adopted when he started CSN. In addition, they will sponsor more social events throughout the San Francisco Bay Area, Los Angeles/Orange County, and in San Diego.
